Today I reduced this tree. It is a Saphora Japonica from Japan. I absolutely hate reductions. They are hard to do and leave the tree looking like a tree. I think I did a good job considering the task at hand. remember you can always click on the picture.

Here is the after shot of the reduction.

I had to remove this willow because it uprooted and fell into an ash tree many years ago. The white stuff is a fungus growing on the roots. Sure sign of an unstable situation. A tree needs a target to be a hazard. This tree was far from and people or foot traffic, so it was not a hazard in my opinion. Well, its gone now...

I am standing where the willow is leaning on the ash. Colorful gear. Yellow helmet, orange glasses, red gloves.....

Here goes the face cut on a pretty big log. An 066 is a big saw to use on the ground, it seems even bigger in a tree. In this pic you can really see where the willow that I am cutting is leaning on the ash.

One last readjustment of the ear plugs before the back cut. An 066 is a big saw to have hanging on your belt.

Here is the back cut. I wish I had a pic of it falling. It went perfectly nose 1st into the creek with a big splash!

Orange safety glasses have been rocking my world lately. They make stuff brighter on a cloudy day..........something very handy to have in Germany.

We visited the National Garden Show which is in Munich all summer!

This is modern art piece at the national garden show here in Germany. Christina was nice enough to pose.

I climbed this ash (on the left side) to remove a cracked stem. The 2 paths underneath are pretty busy so it was definitely a hazard. This is the BEFORE pic.

Here is the AFTER pic. Can you see the part that is missing?

Here is what the cracked part looks like up close.

Here is what the cracked union looks like opened up. Not safe to be hanging over 2 busy paths.
